About Kara

Hi! My name is Kara and I have one of the greatest jobs in the world. I first sought to become a therapist because I love walking with others through their life. Sometimes that involves walking together, other times it involves sitting in the darkness together, or jumping for joy together. Life is complex and wonderful and no one is born knowing how to do it. However, I firmly believe that we have most of the answers to our troubles within us, we just often need help finding them. Therapy is a great place to do this, and I consider it the ultimate privilege to watch your healing process take place.

With over 7 years of experience in outpatient and inpatient settings, I see a wide range of clients and utilize multiple methods of counseling. I am especially passionate about work with couples, adolescents and young adults - specifically those dealing with relationship and intimacy issues, depression, anxiety, and feelings of guilt and shame. I am also currently in the process of pursuing my AASECT certification in sex therapy.

I received my Master of Social Work degree from Grand Valley State University after completing my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Hope College. I am originally a Grand Rapids girl, but Ottawa County is my home through-and-through. Most of my out-of-office time can be found outside with my dog and two kids!
